The Diary Of A CEO — “Do you ever feel like no one else thinks the way you do?”

Steven Bartlett runs two newsletters, and neither is on stevenbartlett.com. Behind the Diary is his personal Sunday letter (“the things I’m thinking about at 2am”), with its own site and a button that reads “Join 450K subscribers”. The DOAC newsletter is the podcast’s, promising “episode drops, distilled frameworks, and the takeaways worth keeping”, and it is the only thing on thediaryofaceo.com.

The two sites are the same small app: one email field, Klaviyo behind it, a variant tag on every sign-up for A/B testing, and SparkLoop’s recommendation page between the form and the thank-you. Facebook ads from the “Steven Bartlett” page push Behind the Diary and a third promise, “Ask a CEO”, through instant forms that sign people up without leaving Facebook.

What was not captured: the instant forms (they only open inside the Facebook app), the newsletters SparkLoop recommends (behind a Cloudflare human check), and every email. Both newsletters were joined, but the inbox session had expired.

Funnel canvas — drag to pan, scroll or use the buttons to zoom. Each node links to that step's page.

Attract

The ad’s first line is the page’s headline

“Do you ever feel like no one else thinks the way you do?” opens the Facebook ad and the Behind the Diary page alike. The ad, though, signs people up inside Facebook, so the page is for everyone who arrives some other way.

One app, two newsletters

Behind the Diary and the DOAC newsletter run on the same sign-up app: one email field, Klaviyo behind it, a variant tag on every sign-up, SparkLoop after it. What differs is the promise: a personal letter from Bartlett on Sundays, or the podcast distilled.

Nurture

3“You’re in. Check your inbox to confirm.”The Diary Of A CEO — “You’re in. Check your inbox to confirm.”

Two thank-yous, two jobs

Behind the Diary’s thank-you says “see you Sunday” and stops. DOAC’s asks for a confirmation click and hands over four episodes and the shop link while the subscriber waits for it.

On a computer this funnel opens as a canvas: every page at full length, side by side, with the arrows between them and the moves that make it work. A phone screen can't hold it, so here it's a list.
