Why it works
Robbins' version of the free-plus-shipping book: "Just cover shipping while copies remain." The scarcity is the whole page. A top bar reads "ADDITIONAL COPIES RELEASED—ONLY A FEW FREE COPIES REMAINING", and the story beneath the buttons is "WE GAVE AWAY EVERY COPY WITHIN 2 DAYS OF RELEASE, BUT TONY DECIDED TO MAKE A FEW MORE AVAILABLE", on a page whose ads have been running since June. Five buttons ("Claim Your FREE Copy", "GET MY FREE BOOK NOW", "YES—SEND ME TONY'S GIFT") all open the same tonyrobbins.com order-form widget, the one the $97 programs embed, which stays hidden until a button is pressed. The copy answers "Why Is Tony Giving This Away?" with the anniversary, and says the profits go to research and 20 million meals through Feeding America.
